This week’s Drake General Store Staff Picks from Tenma – Designer & Private Label Program Lead
 
Tenma and DGS have been dating since April 2013. She says we had her at hello. She loves food and all things food culture and the way it brings people together based on a basic need, as opposed to want. She is also obsessed with gift wrapping and making presents look like works of art.
 
Describe your perfect meal
Honestly, as long as I have good company I’m a happy camper. My fiancé is a killer cook. He puts me to shame. A perfect meal with him would consist of a great bottle of wine, a panzanella salad and some seafood on the BBQ. 
 
Current favourite Drake General Store items? And why do these inspire you?
The Kimchi kit and paste are amazing. Kimchi not only tastes great - its great for you. The kit is a great project to work on - and I happen to be a fan of preserving and jarring which is a part of my (not so) Italian heritage.
I love the book ‘Where Chefs Eat’ because food is not only essential but an experience to be enjoyed with friends + family. I would love to tour with this book!
 
Lastly fall + winter are around the corner! The Macausland throw blanket is my best friend when it’s chilly. Being cozy and wearing lots of layers helps me accept our cold Canadian winters. Obviously I have a love for the products we design in-house. The Great Lakes Toque and Scarves by Arborist (which is coming out soon!) will be perfect additions to my winter collection.

Homemade in small batches, Morris Kitchen is a brother/sister catering company based in Brooklyn.  We spotted their debut product, Ginger Syrup, at the Brooklyn Flea.  Branded with a beautiful letter pressed label and hand stamped with the date that it was bottled, recipes for ginger ale, ginger tea and a ginger cocktail are included.

Even the most ambitious sailor needs to put aside his ale at some point. We love using this locally-designed wine stopper to save our brew. The cork bottom will seal any outside air and the ceramic anchor looks beautiful on display in our kitchen. Suited for a pirate or fisherman, the wine stop stands 1.2” x 2” x 3.6”.
